MTV Games, the video game division of MTV Networks, and Harmonix Music Systems creator of Rock Band, seeks a Producer, Music to manage various video game initiatives related to music games including Rock Band.

The Producer, Music will oversee music related game development of MTV Games initiatives including securing game developers, working with the legal team on contracts, establishing and managing milestone schedule, and managing the product budget.

• Work with developers, distribution partners and key MTV personnel to assure high quality products
• Support the creative vision of MTV Games and maintain creative alignment with the development team
• Serve as a liaison between development team, executive management, marketing, sales, international and PR
• Support Harmonix product initiatives including peripheral management. This includes the Harmonix ancillary products such as Rock Band Track Packs’ production timeline
• Prepare accurate and reasonable project budgets and develop the game within the approved budget
• Provide leadership on global video game market trends, technology and consumer preferences
• Review game designs and provide continuous support and direction to developers
• Milestone tracking and approval
• Coordination of submissions to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo when needed
• Develop and coordinate plan for testing, QA, localization
• Coordinate product evaluation for acquisition and licensing purposes
• Seek out opportunities where MTV Games can engage in partnerships with top game developers, IP holders, and publishers; including the creation and gestation of original gaming IP
• Help recruit world-class talent to MTV Games

Required Qualification/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience managing video games within the video game industry; a minimum of 4 years experience as a Producer
• Producer of a minimum of three major titles on current console platforms and two handheld games as producer or senior producer
• Demonstrated ability to manage developers and development teams through all phases of the product development process
• Experienced at pitching concepts and working with marketing teams to construct viable and marketable titles
• Understanding of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo requirements and organization
• Experience using MS Project or an equivalent project management software tool
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledgeable about all console platforms and multiple genres
• Strong process, organization and business skills
• Position is based in New York
• Ability and willingness to travel
