MTV Games:

I want my MTV…games? In a world where synergy is the name of the game, as it were, MTV Networks launched a new division, MTV Games, that develops, markets, and publishes new video game franchises. The division also licenses MTV content to other game developers and reaps the royalties. The company has partnered with such game developers as Red Mile Entertainment and Midway Games, to jointly develop and market its games. In 2006 the company added in-house capabilities with the acquisition of game developer Harmonix (developer of Guitar Hero). The collaboration has produced Rock Band, a game that follows the Guitar Hero model and allows players to step into the spandex pants of members a rock band.
